We did turn up at Lancaster Holiday Apartments via your Booking.com after 4.5 hours driving we arrived and going through the main entrance there was already a strong smell of damp and mould. We met the young lad who showed us to our apartment down a flight of stairs, the first thing that concerned us was the stench of damp and mould as we got to the apartment door. The room was very dark with just one dim working light. The smell was strong and sickening. First words to the young lad was “this is disgusting and we will not be taking it”. He said he would have to call his mum so whilst he was gone we took the opportunity to take these photos. Even with flash on it was just too dark. We went back upstairs where we never saw him again or anyone else until this woman came smelling of alcohol and clearly not happy saying it was her night off and having a few drinks with her friends. Told her that basement apartment was disgusting and it smelt really bad. Her comments were “nothing wrong with it” and “does not smell”. The woman was either in denial or just didn’t care how bad it was, she had her £335. We did ask if there was anything else available and there was not and she said you booked room 2 and to take it up with Booking.com. Again we told her the room was nothing like the photos displayed online. Clearly this was unfit for human habitation! We then retreated to the car to find another hotel costing a further £438 at the .
